Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

We had another great week at Thorncliffe and are grateful for the beautiful weather!  

We look forward to welcoming families to our Meet the Teacher evening on Thursday, September 24 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn more about the classroom, and connect with our school community. Please note that this is not an opportunity to discuss individual student needs or concerns. We want to ensure that these conversations receive the time and attention they deserve. If you have an individual concern or would like to discuss your child’s needs, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange a separate time to meet.  

Next week, September 21–26, students will be learning about and reflecting on residential schools, Truth and Reconciliation, and the importance of honouring Indigenous voices, experiences, and perspectives. On September 29, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day at Thorncliffe. We are honoured to welcome Knowledge Keeper Pearl White Quills, who will join us to share teachings, stories, and perspectives as we learn, reflect, and honour the day together. 

Students are also continuing to learn about and prepare for our Terry Fox Run, which will take place on October 2. If you would like to make a donation, please visit our school’s Terry Fox Foundation fundraising link here. 

We have several Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches coming up! Our first Fun Lunch will be on September 29. Please click here to register and place your order.

Meet the Teacher: September 24th, 2026

  • Teacher Presentations: 
  • 5:30–6:00 p.m. 
  • 6:15–6:45 p.m. 
  • Presentations will be the same at both times, allowing families with multiple students to attend different class presentations. 
  • Book fair will be in the gym

As we begin the school year, please take a moment to review and complete the following: 

  • MyCBE Account – Please log in to review important information and ensure your information is up to date. 
  • Demographic Verification – Please complete your child’s demographic verification through MyCBE. 
  • Volunteer Forms – A new volunteer registration form is required for each school year, even if you have completed one in the past. 
  • Admirable Use Policy – Please review the CBE’s Admirable Use Policy with your child. 
  • Instagram – Follow us on Instagram @thorncliffe_cbe to stay connected with school news, celebrations, and upcoming events.

Our next meeting will be on October 22nd at 6pm. This will be an online meeting.  A link will be shared closer to the date.  The council is seeking additional members to add their voices to support our school.  If you have any questions or would like additional information about school council, email thorncliffesc@gmail.com

  • Casino funds many opportunities for students including field trips, in school activities such as artist in residence, sports residences, hoop dancing and scientists in school, and swimming lessons
