Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

We had another great week at Thorncliffe! It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their routines, getting to know their teachers and classmates, and continuing to build a strong sense of community throughout the school. We are off to a great start and are looking forward to all that the coming weeks will bring! 

As we look ahead to next week, a quick reminder that we go outside in most weather conditions. With the forecast looking wet, please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather, including a rain jacket and suitable footwear. Having an extra change of clothes in their backpack can also be helpful. This helps ensure that wet clothing does not disrupt your child's learning or comfort throughout the school day. 

The Calgary Board of Education invites parents and guardians to join a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community. Please visit the website for more information.

  • MyCBE Account – Please log in to review important information and ensure your information is up to date. 
  • Demographic Verification – Please complete your child’s demographic verification through MyCBE. 
  • Volunteer Forms – A new volunteer registration form is required for each school year, even if you have completed one in the past. 
  • Admirable Use Policy – Please review the CBE’s Admirable Use Policy with your child.

Upcoming Meeting: 

The next Annual General Meeting will be Tuesday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m. Families can attend in person or online.  A link will be shared closer to the date.  The council is seeking additional members to add their voices to support our school.  If you have any questions or would like additional information about school council, email thorncliffesc@gmail.com  

Casino Dates 2026: 

  • December 7 & 8 
  • Will require many volunteers 
  • Casino funds many opportunities for students including field trips, in school activities such as artist in residence, sports residences, hoop dancing and scientists in school, and swimming lessons 
  • Please consider planning to volunteer to support the casino!
