Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

Here we are, the last week of the school year! It is hard to believe how quickly the year has gone by. This year brought many highlights, opportunities, and challenges, but through it all, we came together as a school community. 

As we reflect on the year, we are proud of all that our students have learned and accomplished. Our core values of being Persistent, Patient, and Proud were demonstrated every day by our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in making this a year filled with meaningful learning and memorable experiences. 

We have an exciting week ahead as we celebrate another successful school year. On Monday, we look forward to welcoming Knowledge Keeper Pearl as we recognise National Indigenous Peoples Day. Students will celebrate and learn about the rich cultures, histories, contributions, and traditions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples through music, storytelling, and shared learning. 

On Tuesday, our Kindergarten students will celebrate a wonderful first year of school with their annual Teddy Bear Picnic. Wednesday is our Grade 6 Farewell, where we will recognise and celebrate our Grade 6 students as they prepare for the transition to junior high. 

Report cards will be available through MyCBE on Thursday. We encourage families to take time together to celebrate their child's learning and growth over the past year. 

Friday is our final day of school and Activity Day. Thank you to the many volunteers who have already signed up to help make the day a success. If you are available to volunteer, please contact your child's teacher or Ms. Vuong. 

Thank you for your continued partnership and for being an important part of the Thorncliffe School community. We wish you all a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer!   

We look forward to welcoming students back on August 31st for the first day of classes for the 2026–2027 school year.

School Hours for 2026-2027 will remain the same as the current year. 

First day of school for students is August 31, 2026. 

 

Report Cards: 

Student report cards will be available for parents to view on June 25th.  Report cards can viewed using your MyCBE account.  If a printed copy is required, please contact the main office. 

Appeals day is Monday, July 29th from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Upcoming Meeting: 

The next Annual General Meeting will be Tuesday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m.  Families can attend in person or online.  A link will be shared closer to the date.  The council is seeking additional members to add their voices to support our school.  If you have any questions or would like additional information about school council, email thorncliffesc@gmail.com  

Casino Dates 2026: 

  • December 7 & 8 
  • Will require many volunteers 
  • Casino funds many opportunities for students including: field trips, in school activities such as artist in residence, sports residences, hoop dancing and scientist in school, and swimming lessons 
  • Please consider planning to volunteer to support the casino!

Applications for Yellow Bus Service are now available on your MYCBE account. Applications for the 2026-27 school year were due June 14, 2026 


2026-2027 Registration and New Year Planning 

If your family is planning a move or making a different school decision for next year, please contact the office to let us know when you have confirmed your plan.  This way we can be proactive with transition planning for your child, and it helps us in making decisions as we plan for the next year.
