Dear Thorncliffe Families,
We hope you had a wonderful week despite the unexpected winter weather. We are all looking forward to the sunny days ahead!
We are looking forward to our division 1 students leading the Earth Day assembly on April 22nd at 2:45 p.m. Families are warmly invited to attend and celebrate the learning and efforts of our students. We will open the doors for families to watch at 2:30 p.m.
Our next School Council meeting will take place on April 23rd at 6:00 p.m. and will be held online. During this meeting, our Grade 6 teachers will share student work connected to the School Development Plan, as well as highlights and memories from the Grade 6 trip to Drumheller. We always appreciate family involvement and encourage those who are able to attend to join us. As a reminder, orders for the Growing Smiles School Council fundraiser are also due on April 23rd. Fundraisers like this help support valuable school initiatives and enhance student learning experiences. Thank you all for your continued support.
We are also excited to see continued progress in our upcoming musical. Students have been working hard during rehearsals, and it is all starting to come together. We will continue to share updates as we approach the performance dates.
A reminder that there will be no school this Friday, April 24th, due to a professional learning day. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and has a chance to rest and recharge.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership.
Warm regards,
Calleigh & Mary
Morning Traffic:
This is a friendly reminder to please respect designated bus zones at all times. Parked vehicles in these areas create unsafe conditions for our buses. Additionally, please refrain from making U-turns near the school. This is not only unsafe for our students, but also illegal.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe school zone for everyone.
Morning Supervision:
As a reminder, morning supervision begins at 9:00 a.m., with doors opening for soft entry at 9:05 a.m. Student learning starts at 9:15 a.m. We kindly ask that students not arrive before 9:00 a.m. unless accompanied by an adult.
Afterschool Supervision:
Unless supervised by an adult, students are asked to head home promptly after the 3:43 p.m. dismissal, as staff supervision is available for only 10 minutes after student dismissal. At the end of supervision after school, students will be asked to head home or come to wait for a parent in the office.

What does my child need to wear?
Costumes are based on colour themes, and there is no expectation to purchase anything new. Please use what you already have at home, and if that is not possible, that is absolutely okay. Participating in the performance is what matters most. Please note that some classes have two different looks.
All costumes should allow students to move comfortably. Nothing should cover the eyes, and hats must be worn in a way that does not cast shadows on faces. Students should wear safe, appropriate shoes for dancing. If your child is wearing a dress, please ensure they wear leggings or shorts underneath.
Grade 1/2 (Ms. Emma, Ms. Arora)
Costume 1: Skirts, cardigans (think older grandma clothing)
Costume 2: Clothes that represent you

Costume 2: White top, black bottoms
Grade 4/5 (Ms. Luong, Ms. Singh)
