Dear Thorncliffe Families,

Safety First!  We would like to remind everyone of the importance of getting to and from school safely.  Some tips are highlighted below:

  • Use Designated Crosswalks: Always cross streets at marked crosswalks or intersections
  • No U-Turns in School Zones: It is not permitted or safe for pedestrians or other vehicles
  • Stay Clear of the Staff Parking Lot: No students, vehicles, or bikes should be entering the staff parking lot before or after school
  • Look Both Ways: Before crossing, stop and look left, right, and left again to make sure it’s safe.
  • Stay on Sidewalks: Walk on sidewalks or paths whenever possible. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
  • Be Visible: Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially during low light conditions, so drivers can see you easily.
  • Avoid Distractions: Stay alert and avoid using electronic devices like phones or headphones while walking near traffic.
  • Follow Traffic Signals: Obey pedestrian traffic lights and signals to cross streets safely.
  • Walk with a Buddy: Whenever possible, walk with a friend or family member for added safety.

Let’s all work together to make our school zone a safe environment for everyone!

Warmly,

Nadine and Calleigh
