Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

We are so proud of our staff and students for the beautiful Remembrance Day Ceremony on Friday.  Thank you so much to Ms. Weir, Ms. Luong, Ms. Singh, Ms. Omanthi, and Mr. K for their work preparing students to lead this thoughtful and reflective assembly.  A particular thank you to Ms. Weir for her work with our choir before and after school, providing resources for home practice, and using so much of her own time to give students this opportunity to perform. 

This week is our Fall break.  There is no school for students Monday-Wednesday, with a return to classes on Thursday.   

On Monday, November 17^th we are pleased to welcome our acting Assistant Principal Sandy Searle who will be working with Thorncliffe until the Winter Break.  Sandy has been teaching for 35 years, all but one year with CBE. She taught secondary math and science for 14 years before moving into administration. Sandy was a school-based principal for 8 years, a system principal for 6 years as well as a teacher staffing consultant for two. She retired in May 2024 and have appreciated the opportunity to support K-12 schools since then on a casual basis. Although much of her career has been in secondary, Sandy has championed literacy and numeracy across all divisions.

School Council 

Save the Date!  Our first school council meeting  and Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 20^th at 6pm.  This will be a hybrid meeting and parents are welcome to join us at the school or online.  A link will be shared closer to the meeting date.  Joining council is a great way to become involved in the school community and to share your input and ideas for the school.
