Dear Thorncliffe Families,

We hope everyone is staying warm and safe with this return to winter!  In cold temperatures it is important to send students prepared to be outside in the weather including warm boots, coats, mittens or gloves, snowpants and toques.  Students play outside in temperatures up to –19C including the windchill.  When temperatures drop below –20C, we keep them inside for recess.  During indoor recesses, we continue to offer Polar Bear Club.  During Polar Bear Club, students are invited to go outside if they are appropriately dressed for the weather.  Parents are welcome to let their child’s teacher or the office know if they would not like their child to participate in Polar Bear Club.

In the mornings, we are noticing many students arriving to school before the start of our morning supervision.  As a reminder, morning supervision starts at 9:00am, with the doors open for soft entry at 9:05.  Student learning begins at 9:15am.

Warmly,

Calleigh and Mary
