Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

We had the most wonderful experience with Elder Shirley this week.  The students learned about the wisdom of the animals taking time to rest in the winter months, connected to a beautiful story about the different gifts of the animals, and participated in hoop dancing. Thank you very much to our generous school council for providing this learning experience for our school community! 

Kindergarten and Alternative Program Registration opens Monday, January 12th.  All kindergarten students register for school using School Engage.  For more information visit the Kindergarten Registration Page.  For current students wishing to apply to an alternative program, visit the alternative programs site for more information.    Please note that for all programs, registration is not first-come, first-served.  Registration for students entering the CBE for their first year is also open on the 12^th for those students that didn’t attend Kindergarten at Thorncliffe. 

We have a few large ice patches that have formed behind the school.  Students love to play on them and we have established some rules to support safe play.  These are: no standing, no running then sliding, and one at a time in an orderly line if sliding along the surface on knees or tummy.  We have had students wanting to stay after school to play.  Our supervision ends 10 minutes after dismissal.  At this time, students not under the direct supervision of their parent/guardian need to leave the school property.
