Dear Thorncliffe Families,
We began February on a high note! This week, students learned about the Olympic Games and began honouring Black History Month by exploring the achievements and impact of influential Black athletes. Throughout the month, our school community will continue learning about and celebrating Black excellence, uplifting voices across generations, and recognizing the enduring influence of culture, creativity, and leadership. We look forward to many meaningful learning opportunities ahead.
Please note that the upcoming week will be a short week, with no school from February 12–16 due to Teachers’ Convention and Family Day. As Valentine’s Day falls during the break this year, classrooms will recognize it in different ways. Your child’s teacher will share details directly. We kindly remind families that there are many students with various food allergies. Please do not send any food items. If your child’s class will be exchanging cards, please ensure there is one for all students in the class.
Families who wish to share ideas, experiences, or cultural perspectives are encouraged to contact the school or email Calleigh Harder (ceharder@cbe.ab.ca) or Mary Haddock (mahaddock@cbe.ab.ca).
As Ramadan approaches, we want to ensure we are supporting students in the best way possible during the school day. Please feel free to communicate any needs, accommodations, or considerations that would help your child during this time. We appreciate your partnership and open communication.
February promises to be a busy and meaningful month, continue to watch for important dates and announcements.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Calleigh and Mary
