Dear Thorncliffe Families,

We hope you had a wonderful week, even with the chilly temperatures! It was another busy and engaging week at Thorncliffe, and the variety of activities brought a great energy to our blue days.  On blue days, we continue to offer Polar Bear Club to allow students that are dressed appropriately including toque, mittens, warm coat, snow pants and boots the opportunity to play outside. The students can return inside at any point to warm up. We do not offer Polar Bear Club in temperatures below -30C.

Our Grade 4/5 students enjoyed a wonderful field trip to the Calgary Landfill, where they proudly shared their knowledge of responsible waste management and recycling practices. Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping make this learning opportunity possible.

Back at school, students participated in karate lessons with Sensei Ethan and are already looking forward to Sensei Ethan’s return in the spring. The Olympics also brought excitement to our indoor lunch hours.

Students also explored and learned about Ramadan and Lunar New Year. A special thank you to our guest speaker who provided a meaningful learning experience about Lunar New Year.

We were also pleased to host YouthLink for an informative internet safety presentation for Thorncliffe parents. We will be sharing additional resources with families in the coming weeks.

February has been a busy and meaningful month at Thorncliffe, with many opportunities for learning and connection. As we enter into the final week of the month, we look forward to finishing February strong. Watch for a link to our online School Council meeting on Thursday at 6pm.  Our Kindergarten team will be sharing about student learning.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week

Warmly,

Calleigh and Mary
