Dear Thorncliffe Families,

We hope you had a wonderful week and are enjoying the warmer weather. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making Family Literacy Week such a success. Students participated in engaging activities, such as the Battle of the Books and Dress Up as Your Favourite Book Character, which enriched their learning experience. A special thank you to our guest readers, students loved it!

February is a meaningful time for reflection and learning as we recognize Black History Month. This month offers opportunities for our school community to honour the histories, contributions, and leadership of Black communities in Canada and around the world. In alignment with the Calgary Board of Education’s commitment to inclusive and welcoming learning environments, students will explore both historical and contemporary Black culture, fostering understanding, empathy, and respect for diverse perspectives.

This learning connects with our ongoing focus on social-emotional learning and the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework, grounded in the Medicine Wheel. Through this work, students continue to develop skills related to empathy, communication, and emotional regulation while strengthening connections across Spirit, Heart, Mind, and Body.

We warmly invite families who would like to share ideas, experiences, or cultural perspectives to connect with us by calling the school or emailing Calleigh Harder (ceharder@cbe.ab.ca) or Mary Haddock (mahaddock@cbe.ab.ca).

Please continue to check important dates and announcements, as February promises to be a busy and meaningful month.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

Warmly,

Calleigh and Mary

Morning Supervision:

In the mornings, many students arrive at the school before the start of our morning supervision. As a reminder, morning supervision starts at 9:00am, with the doors open for soft entry at 9:05.  Student learning begins at 9:15am.

We do not recommend students arriving before 9:00am in the morning unless they are accompanied by an adult.
