Dear Thorncliffe Families,

We hope you had an enjoyable long weekend. Our teachers valued the opportunity to participate in professional learning at the Teachers’ Convention and look forward to integrating their new learning into classroom practice.

Last week, students in Grades 1–3 attended a field trip to Studio Bell, where they explored different instruments and discovered how sound is created and how music is made through engaging, hands-on experiences. Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping make the trip such a positive experience for our students and to our school council for funding the experience.

This week, students will participate in a Karate residency. Throughout the sessions, they will develop foundational karate skills while building self-discipline, focus, and respect in a fun and active environment.

We are also excited to recognize the Lunar New Year. On Thursday, February 19, we will welcome a special guest who will share cultural traditions and learning with our students as part of this celebration.

As some of our students observe Ramadan, we are committed to supporting them in meaningful and respectful ways throughout the school day. Please feel free to reach out to share any needs, accommodations, or considerations that would best support your child during this time. We truly value your partnership and open communication.

Families who would like to share ideas, experiences, or cultural perspectives are warmly encouraged to contact the school or email Calleigh Harder (ceharder@cbe.ab.ca) or Mary Haddock (mahaddock@cbe.ab.ca).

February remains a busy and meaningful month. Please watch for important dates and announcements.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week and most amazing Family Day on Monday.

Warmly,

Calleigh and Mary
