Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

Thank you to all of our families who braved the snowstorm to meet with teachers Thursday and Friday!  If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher, please email or call to request a phone call or meeting. 

This week we look forward to having our division 2 students go to swimming lessons.  Unless the temperature is below –20C, we will be proceeding with walking to the pool for lessons.  Please send your long haired children with hair elastics to tie their hair back and warm clothes and boots for the walk.  There are loaner items available in the office if they forget!  Remember to bring your towel and swimsuit for swimming each day, along with a bag to store the wet items after swimming.  Thank you very much to those parents who have signed up to volunteer for swimming. 

CBE policy for cold weather states that we can go outside for community walks and play if the temperature including windchill is warmer than –20C.  Please ensure that you are sending your child dressed for cold weather every day.   

For those days that are colder than -20C, we will be restarting Polar Bear Club this school year!  There will be the option for children to go outside with an adult on those days when the temperature is below –20C as long as they are appropriately dressed for the cold with a warm coat and snow pants, mitten/gloves, and toque.  If you would not like your child to participate in Polar Bear Club, please let your child’s teacher or the office know.  No child would ever have to participate if they did not choose to, there will always be a safe indoor option on those very cold days.
