Dear Thorncliffe Families,
This will be the final weekly update for the 2024-2025 school year. We would like to express our most sincere appreciation for the Thorncliffe Community for the support offered the school throughout the year. This is truly a remarkable place!
The last day for students is on Thursday. Please note that this is an early dismissal day. All students are dismissed at 1:10pm. Busses will also be picking up at this time. Thursday is our activity day! Please ensure your child is dressed to be outside for several hours. Checking the weather forecast that morning and sending them prepared is recommended.
On Friday morning, we have our appeals opportunity. At this time, you are welcome to call or drop by the school for any questions you may have about your child’s report card until 12:00pm. After 12:00, staff will be busy readying the school for the summer and will no longer be available to meet.
We had an amazing Thermopylae event on Thursday! Despite the event no longer being planned by a larger group of schools, Ms.Vuong, supported by her team of Ms. Michael, Ms. Omanthi, and Mr. Sandberg created an amazing event for students at the school. This was due to a lot of thought, care and planning on her part. Thank you Ms. Vuong!!
You may have heard about our visitors last week - our chicks hatched! Ask your child about these friends we welcomed into our school throughout the week.
Heading into the summer, we have some staffing updates to share.
Farewells
Mr. Sandberg will be transitioning to Jr. High! This has been a goal of his the past few years and will allow him to share his amazing gifts as an educator, but also as a coach! Thank you for everything Mr. Sandberg.
Ms. Michael will be moving to a school much closer to her home. Ms. Michael has been a learning leader and the driving force behind Switcheroo this year. Her leadership and presence will be missed on the leadership team and in the school.
Ms. Amanda has also decided to make a change to a south school. Ms. Amanda has been a leader on her team and her ability to infuse creativity and art into her lessons will be missed. Thank you for inspiring us Ms. Amanda!
Ms. Arora’s temporary contract will be ending at the end of this year. Ms. Arora has been working as a literacy teacher and intervention support since December. Our students have grown and thrived through her small group work with them. We will miss you Ms. Arora!
Welcomes
We are pleased to welcome to our team for next year: Ms. Jenny Nicholas-Luong who comes to us from Falconridge School and Ms. Ravneet Singh who will be coming from Bayside School. Additionally, we are able to keep Ms. Brianne Messing at our school next year.
We will be sharing a message in August with all the back to school details! Additionally details will be available on our website as they are finalized. Students’ first day back is on September 2nd after the long weekend.
Have a beautiful rest of your weekend and a most wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Calleigh and Nadine
