Dear Thorncliffe Families,
What a wonderful first week back with students! We loved seeing the students and hearing all about their winter break. In the classrooms, teachers were working with students around setting goals and reflecting on their achievements and growth.
We are pleased to share that we have started small group literacy intervention with our new staff member Ms. Arora. Small groups were planned to provide targeted support to students that will benefit from focused instruction on phonics and phonemic awareness in grades 2-6. The initial groupings are intended to be short term and focus on an identified gap. After 6-8 weeks, groupings and learning targets will be revised based on student need.
In other staffing news, we are pleased to welcome Ms. Chun Xu to our staff as an education assistant. We will be saying goodbye to Ms. Jillian on Friday the 17th and will be seeking another EA to fill her position in the coming weeks.
There have been increased incidents of pick up and drop off in our school parking lot. Please be advised that there is no pick up or drop off in this area. Along the sidewalk to the North of the school near the playground there is a long drop off zone. Children are encouraged to enter the school grounds through the fence cut out near the playground to avoid walking through the parking lot.
Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of your weekend!
Warm Regards,
Calleigh and Nadine
