Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

We hope that everyone had an opportunity to review their child’s report card.  It will remain available on your myCBE account until May.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss aspects of your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher. 

Ms. Vuong is excited to start gymnastics with students starting on Monday.  This is a phys. Ed unit that our students look forward to all year.  Some notes for Monday:  

  • long hair must be tied back 
  • no jewelry  
  • no hoodies (please wear something under hoodies so they can be removed) 
  • no covered hands (ie. sleeves that are too long, gloves or mittens)  
  • please wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in that will not interfere with climbing and tumbling (ie. shorts under skirts or dresses, athletic hijabs, no loose strings, hoods, scarves, ect.) 
  • no hats 
  • running shoes must be worn (no sandals, crocs, boots, dress shoes, slide ect.) 
  • please note if students are not dressed appropriately for Gymnastics they will not be allowed to participate in all gymnastics activities for their own safety. 

 

Lunar New Year was celebrated this past week on January 29th.  We are thrilled to welcome a wonderful parent, Ms. Tran on Monday to share about this important celebration with our students.  Thank you

Report Cards – MyCBE 

At the end of January, report cards will be available for families to view on your myCBE account. February Kindness Month Initiative 

February is the month of kindness. Let’s come together as a school community and make a difference to some of our families in need!  

Every contribution can help our families experiencing hardships access food to feed their families. Make a donation below, which we will use to purchase grocery gift cards to provide to our families when emergencies arise. We will collect gifts until March 21, 2025.

Kindergarten Registration 

On January 13th, 2025-2026 school year registration begins for community and alternative programs.  Please review the information at https://cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/Get-Ready-Get-Set-Kindergarten.aspx to learn about the process for registration.  As always, feel free to contact the main office with any questions you still have about registration. 


Valentine’s Day 

Any recognition of Valentine's Day is classroom specific. Please connect with your child's teacher with any questions. As with all holidays and special dates, please do not send any food items into the school. If you would like to send in cards etc. please ensure that your child brings enough for all students in the class 


School Council Updates 

  • Next meeting on Thursday, February 6th at 6:00pm (Hybrid Meeting – online or in person option) 
  • Kindergarten will share information about learning in their classrooms
