Dear Thorncliffe Families, 

We would like to thank all of the families that were able to come to our student learning conferences last week. If you were unable to attend and would like to connect with your child’s teacher, please send an email directly to the teacher requesting a phone call.  Thank you very much to School Council for providing dinner for teachers on Thursday – having the meal makes the long day feel so much easier!  

There have been increased reports of families dropping off or picking up in our parking lot.  This lot is not designed to safely drop off or pick up children and increases risk of collision or possible harm to children walking on the sidewalk.  As a reminder, pedestrians should never be crossing the parking lot to access the school.  There is a cut out in the fence that can be used to enter the school grounds behind the school.  Thank you for your attention to this important safety issue at our school.

Cold and Snowy Weather 

• We go outside for recess and phys. Ed in all kinds of weather 
• All children are expected to go outside for play unless the weather is below –20 C 
• If you are seeking warm outdoor clothes and cannot provide them for your family, we have some available at the school – please call the office and speak with Ms. Freda 
• Children should come ready to be outdoors throughout out the day with warm coats, snowpants, toques, and gloves/mittens 
• Scarves are not recommended and are not allowed to be worn on the playground due to safety concerns
