Another Great Year for Our Learning Community!
As the days get longer it is a reminder summer vacation is quickly approaching, which prompts me into reflection. The 2023-24 school year has been filled with many memorable occasions. We started off the year with an inaugural Welcome Back School Breakfast that was well attended by students and their families. Throughout the year students have been participating in classroom tasks to expand their knowledge and skills while also participating in numerous exciting field trips throughout our city. We were excited to expand the swimming program this year to include grade 3 and 4’s, and hoping for continued growth in the 2024-25 school year. The In line family skate night was a success once again, and Elder Shirley Hill enlightened and entertained our students for a week during her residency on hoop dancing and Blackfoot story telling. Thorncliffe s Musical performance The New Girl impressed audiences over two evenings and I understand plans are already in the works for next year performance, and these were just a few of the highlights through our amazing year.
I would like to thank all of our students for their dedication to learn throughout the year, our parents and guardians for their support, volunteers for their kindness, and our teachers for their passion and dedication to every one of our students and their families.
As we transition into the summer months, I encourage everyone to continue learning. Here are a few tips to make the most of your summer:
- Read Daily: Whether it's a storybook, a novel, or an interesting article, reading helps keep your mind active and engaged.
- Stay Curious: Explore museums, nature trails, science centers, or even try a new hobby or sport.
- Stay Connected: Spend quality time with family and friends, and cherish these moments of togetherness.
If your child is moving onto another school I would like to thank you for being part of our learning community, and if you are returning to Thorncliffe next year I look forward to seeing you August 29th..
Lastly, I hope everyone gets an opportunity to spend some quality time with loved ones, along with some rest, relaxation, and self care.
Respectfully,
Glen Steed
